Unlocked enzyme structure shows how strigolactone hormone controls plant growth

As sessile organisms, plants have to continually adapt their growth and architecture to the ever-changing environment. To do so, plants have evolved distinct molecular mechanisms to sense and respond to the environment and integrate the signals from outside with endogenous developmental programs. New research unravels the underlying mechanism of protein targeting and destruction in a specific plant hormone signaling pathway. source https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2022/04/220428161408.htm

Scientific advance leads to a new tool in the fight against hackers

A new form of security identification could soon see the light of day and help us protect our data from hackers and cybercriminals. Quantum mathematicians have solved a mathematical riddle that allows for a person's geographical location to be used as a personal ID that is secure against even the most advanced cyber attacks. source https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2022/04/220428125430.htm

Study tracks COVID-19 infection dynamics in adults

Scientists tracked the rise and fall of SARS-CoV-2 in the saliva and nasal cavities of people newly infected with the virus. The study was the first to follow acute COVID-19 infections over time through repeated sampling and to compare results from different testing methodologies. source https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2022/04/220428125435.htm

Scientists Are Working on How to Grow Replacement Teeth

Unlike many other types of human tissue, dental enamel doesn't regrow after it's damaged, so specialists are using stem cells to study how to restore affected teeth.

Humans run at the most energy-efficient speed, regardless of distance

As race season approaches, many runners have the same goal: go faster. But researchers now show that speeding up might require defying our natural biology. By combining data from runners monitored in a lab along with 37,000 runs recorded on wearable fitness trackers, scientists have found that humans' natural tendency is to run at a speed that conserves caloric loss -- something that racers seeking to shave time off their miles will have to overcome. source https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2022/04/220428125438.htm

Heat Wave Warning For 5 States, 45 Degrees In Some Parts: 10 Points

This year, Northwest India recorded the hottest March in 122 years, with an average maximum temperature surpassing the previous record of 30.67 degrees Celsius in 2004. New Delhi:  The weather department has announced heat wave warning for at least five states as India witnesses its "hottest summer ever" with large parts of the country reporting temperatures around 45 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heat wave conditions in large parts of the country for at least the next five days. "Rise by about 2 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures very likely over most parts of Northwest India during next three days and fall by about 2 degrees Celsius thereafter," it said. A heat wave warning has been announced for Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, UP and Odisha as parts of these states record temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius. The severe conditions are likely to persist till the first week of May after which chances of rain increase, I
