WeChat's ten-year birthday




On the day when WeChat celebrated the "10th birthday", Xiaomi's Mi Chat announced that it would completely withdraw from the stage of history and shut down the server.

On January 19, 2021, in the annual WeChat Open Class, the WeChat team brought to everyone the latest product developments in WeChat ecological services such as WeChat Mini Programs, Enterprise WeChat, WeChat Payment, and Mini Games. It can be said that WeChat has delivered a proud report card to users for ten years.

But as Michao, which was launched earlier than WeChat, this once star project of Xiaomi has now ended sadly. When Mi Talk released the first version, Xiaomi founder Lei Jun predicted: "If Tencent enters this field, the probability of Mi Talk will be greatly reduced." At that time, three teams within Tencent were quietly developing mobile IM projects, not to mention Said, there is also the largest chat tool QQ internally. Sure enough, due to the launch of WeChat, Tencent used its huge QQ user base to directly communicate with WeChat, which resulted in Michao's final defeat and was abandoned by users.

According to the official announcement issued by Michao, the service of Michao will be stopped at 12:00 on February 19, 2021. The announcement shows that users are requested to export their chat history and personal information before stopping the service (Android v8.8.70 and The above version supports batch export). After the service is stopped, any information of the user in Michao will not be exported.

Dear MiChat users:

Since its release, Mi Talk has been deeply supported and loved by everyone, and the Mi Talk team is deeply grateful. Due to business changes, we will stop Michao’s service at 12:00 on February 19, 2021. The specific schedule is as follows:

-12:00 on February 1, 2021: Account registration and messaging will be suspended;


-At 12:00 on February 19, 2021: Stop Mi Talk login and shut down the server. Then and after that, you will not be able to log in and use Mi Talk.

Users are requested to export their chat history and personal data and other information before stopping the service (Android v8.8.70 and above support batch export). After the service is stopped, any information in Michat will not be exported. In addition, the relevant information collected legally when we provide services to you will be stored in accordance with national laws and regulations and the "Michao Privacy Policy". After the retention period, we will delete or anonymize your personal information.

Finally, I would like to thank every Michao user for their support and company in the past. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the suspension of Michao. In the future, the Mi Talk team will work hard to bring you more new services.
